Original color pencil drawings on art or poster board of scenes of American military in the Korean War drawn by Norma Strickbine. These were drawn in association with her husband's books on his experiences in the Korean War, and in particular, Korean Vignettes: Faces of War, published in 1996. I am including a fine copy in dj with these drawings. About 15 ½" x 20". Three wonderful drawings on each sheet. Color pencil drawn black block lettering to top and bottom of each sheet. Norman L. Husband Norman Strickbine along with Arthur W. Wilson wrote, as noted above, Korean Vignettes: Faces of War, published in 1996 by Artwork Publications, Portland, Oregon. The long subtitle is, 201 Veterans of the Korean War Recall That Forgotten War; Their Experiences and Thoughts and Wartime Photographs of That Era. The book is a remarkable witness composed of dozens of stories of soldiers in the war provided to Wilson and Strickbine. Ms. Strickbine's drawings are not in the book, but she did the color portrait for the front of the dust jacket. Her husband was Sergeant and Battalion Photographer for the 13th Combat Engineer Battalion, 7th Infantry Division & his photos illustrate the book. Perhaps the original drawings were done to promote the book, but really we are not sure of their exact purpose, which may simply have been a personal project for the benefit of her and her husband. Whether Ms. Strickbine did any other drawings like these is unknown, but these are obviously unique and original. Rare thus.
