THE PEOPLE OF THE HARRISON

Abbotsford and Deroche BC: Privately Published, 1990. First Edition. Soft cover. Very Good. Item #SHEL2111

1st printing. Pictorial green trade wraps. 278pp. Illustrated with vintage photos. Sources cited at end of each chapter. Index. Former owners' address stamp (Harrison Hot Springs) inside front cover. Small ink squiggle mark top corner of title page. Exceedingly scarce and very thorough history of the beautiful area of SE British Columbia inclusive of huge Harrison Lake north of the Fraser River. Extensive history of the First Nations of the area including Port Douglas. Chapters on these First Nations, early explorations, route to the Cariboo goldfields, Harrison Mills, Harrison Hot Springs, Morris Valley, early logging, personalities, and a quite informative chapter on the early history of sasquatch sightings in the area. Harrison is one of the historic epicenters of sasquatch activity and recognition by First Nations. The author cites her friend and/or fellow citizen of Harrison Hot Springs and nearby Agassiz, John Green. Also refers to Rene Dahinden. The front cover likes to curl up from fore edge when the book is just laying down. A very good copy. An important book for a sasquatch library and a BC - Canadian library.
