Victoria: Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, 1984. First Edition. Original Wraps. Fine. Item #NLS005
1st and only printing. 4to colorfully illustrated wrappers. Unpaginated, but 53 works of art by Siebner printed, most in color. This is the catalogue that accompanied Herbert Siebner's art exhibition in the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria May 2 - June 17, 1984. Contents: Acknowledgments. Introduction by Patricia Bovey, Artist's Statement (5 1/2 pages), Select Bibliography, Chronology of Siebner), List of Works Exhibited, Plates. Herbert Siebner was an extraordinarily prolific Abstract Expressionist artist who, in my opinion, is overlooked, and whose immense body of work will again come into its own. His paintings and prints, 53 published here are stunning in their boldness of design and, with the oils, their color. A friend and associate of more widely known abstract expressionists, he was a founding member of the remarkable society of artists and writers in Victoria, the Limners. This copy near fine; just a trace of wear to some edges of the covers.
