CLUB WOMEN OF NEW YORK 1933-1934

NYC: Club Women of New York Co., 1933. First Thus. Hardcover. Very Good. Item #5021052

1st printing thus. Royal 8vo gilt-stamped & decorated burgundy cloth. 292pp. Illustrated with wonderful ads and several portraits, some full page. Frontispiece: Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt (Eleanor), who wrote the facing address to the club women. Photo of "Reception Room" is near the front of the book. On p. 151 is photo of the "Women's City Club" building at 22 Park Ave. There is an extensive index of members giving their addresses and membership information on the many clubs that apparently were affiliated with the CWNY. At the end is a Directory of Advertisers & a photo of Women's University Club on 106 East 52nd St. The front paste down bears the small custom bookplate of Terry Turner. It covers part of the full ad on the past down. Throughout this copy are pencil check marks and "x"'s. The back over has a large color ad for Chesterfield Cigarettes. The lead over the statement attached to the color lithograph of women in fine red dress, had and mink stole says, "I really don't know if I should smoke." There is a 1" scratch on that litho. A very good copy but we note a slight bit of fraying to the head & toe of the spine. Very scarce.
