ORIGINAL ISSUE. Split most of the way at main fold. Size 27" x 42". A huge size rag-content newspaper filled with various reports from account the country and overseas, most just a paragraph, including Cherokee Principal Chief John Ross issuing warrant for arrest of murderer of Bushy Head, confinement of Mormon assassin Orin Porter Rockwell in Independence for attempted murder of Gov. Boggs, arrest of several white men in the Cherokee country for violating the intercourse (liquor) laws and their transport to Fort Smith, arrival of Queen Victoria in France for first time a British Monarch met the French head of state in "circumstance" for centuries, dispute between states of Illinois and Missouri over the failure to deliver Joseph Smith to the latter, convention of Millerite fanatics, and literally hundreds of more news items including example of Sabbath breaking, various fatal accidents, murders, etc., etc. Paper folded several times. Not to be confused with the modern publication, "The New York Observer had also been the title of an earlier weekly religious paper founded 164 years before by Sidney E. Morse in 1823." Very little foxing.
