TWO YEARS IN THE KLONDIKE AND ALASKAN GOLD-FIELDS: A Thrilling Narrative, etc.
Hartford: Hartford Pub Co, 1898. Hardcover. 24mo - over 5 - 5¾" tall. Fair. Item #2507020
1st edition. A 1913 library binding in cloth. 558pp. Illustrated with sharp and remarkably descriptive b/w photos taken by the author or an associate. The binding is tight even though the binding is just barely exposed after the title page. The binding threads are not broken. Library stamp on front paste down and under it, "with drawn" in pencil. A check out pocket was removed from rear paste down leaving some residue. A binder's ink stamp is on lower free end paper with the date of "May 1913." No spine call numbers. No stamps on the edges. Top edge shows a tideline, but there virtually no staining to pages. Some pages have a spot or two of foxing or mild stain. The tight binding probably warrants a "good" grade, but I prefer to be conservative and have assigned it "fair." If buyer is willing to spend a little money, an attractive rebinding would make this copy a star. Not uncommon as to libraries where this may be found, but certainly very, very scarce on the market. I read this book aloud to my wife and it is really a "good read." It is thrilling.
