REE-LAXIN' AT SKRANKY KNOB
Hannibal MO: Wig Comic Art Co, 1948. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Item #2411053
1st printing quite apparently. Pictorial cloth. 63pp. Illustrated with nifty hillbilly drawings. Signed "J J Wiegenstein" under author's names on title page, and wonder if "Wig" is nickname for Wiegenstein. This book is a bunch of down-home stories written in Missouri hillbilly dialect and with place names such as the title along with "Missouory" and "Hardscrabble, Missooory," etc. Example opening, "Deer J. Joe / Well sir, th' other day whe me an' my dog 'Tooter' wuz a-settin' by th' plow, ..." Very, very scarce regional book depicting regional "color" from the hills of Missouri. Only three copies located in world libraries. No dust jacket and we don't know if one was produced. IN a yellow-cream binding. Light soiling. Top of back cover has a thin layer of NOT bright white about 1 1/2" x 3" that does not detract very much, but must be noted. Else vg.
