Attractive pictorial gilt & blind-stamped small 8vo cloth. 222pp. Illustrated with several wood engravings. Index. 6pp of additional publications. Bibliographer Reese writes, in part, "Brisbin's book has long been considered the most important promotional work adding fuel to the cattle boom of the 1880s... (note of Brisbin's plagiarism) ...Whether the facts were his or not, Brisbin paints a spectacular picture in which his favorite phrase is 'and the profits are enormous.'" Information out of Nebraska, Texas, Colorado, etc.. According to Reese, at the 1st National Convention of Cattlemen in 1884 in St. Louis, Brisbin was elected vice president of the Nat'l Cattle and Horse Growers' Assoc.. Moderate wear to extremities. Bottom of spine with slight fraying. Light soiling. Minor rubbing. Very good, tight, original condition. Rare in either printing & exceptional in this condition.
