PIONEER LIFE PANEL POSTERS
Ideal School Supply Co., Chicago, 1935, 1935. First Edition. Soft cover. Very Good. Item #0611029
Not a book. Unusual ephemera. Four large (12" x 36" each) stiff & heavy paper panels with color paper appliqus. Each panel is folded. Included is a small sheet, "Directions for making". A larger (2/3 page) sheet, "Pioneer Life" also laid in. Designed for classroom use, these posters, done by illustrator Cleaveland, were made with a series of color cut-out pieces to be glued, with surprisingly attractive effect, on outlined figures on the poster. Even the sky of each poster is applied in large & small pieces. Remarkably conceived, they represent four Western themes. "Wagon Trains". "Placer Mining". "Starting the Home". "Western Town". Being carefully executed, these would make interesting conversation pieces in your den between your original & Remington Russell. In original pictorial folio envelope (flap creased/wrinkled). Ink stamp of The Clarke & Stuart, Ltd., Commercial Stationers and Printers, Vancouver, B.C.. Vg. Very scarce.
