HIGHWAY MAPS OF OHIO: June, 1910
(Columbus): State of Ohio Highway Department, 1910. First Edition. Soft cover. Collectible Very Good. Item #SHEL1723
This is a true rarity for travel and automobile and even horse-drawn wagon buffs. 1st and presumably only edition. Oblong long folio 13 1/2" x 16 3/4". Soft burlap-like cloth binding. 88 maps representing all 88 counties. Black and white maps with color tracings of certain highways/roads. Blue indicate gravel roads, Orange indicate macadam roads, & red indicates red paved roads. Condition good. Some of the maps have some corner curling or dog-ear, and some margins are soiled. The front blank leaf is dark. The "burlap' is darkened and is frayed a little. The thread binding is pulled, loosening virtually all the signatures, but this is surely to be expected due to early use. Rare. According to another bookseller, students at Ohio State University did the work on this atlas because of state funding issues.
