LAND OF THE SASQUATCH

Victoria (B.C.): Beautiful British Columbia Magazine, 1974. First Thus. Soft cover. Very Good+. Item #SHEL1425

1st printing, full issue of the Fall, 1974 issue of Beautiful British Columbia Magazine. The nine-page article which is titled in this listing is primarily composed of terrific color photographs. The text is somewhat brief, but adequate. This is a "must have" item for serious collectors of books and articles on the subject. In this article, Green writes not so much about the creature, Bigfoot/Sasquatch (this is four years before his publication of his classic book, Sasquatch - the Apes Among Us and just a few years after his three earlier, smaller books), but about this lovely, mountainous, lake and river decorated section of southwestern B. C. which is one of the handful of truly classic geographic areas out of which have come historic Sasquatch reports. There are 19 paragraphs of text and 9 photographs, including a seldom seen photo of young John Green showing a cast to a young couple, and a photo showing one of the early Sasquatch carvings no longer to be seen on the outskirts of Harrison Hot Springs. Mr. Green has lived in the Harrison - Agassiz area of B. C. most of his adult life. He served as mayor of Harrison Hot Springs and as a newspaper publisher, during which time he began to take seriously the accounts of local citizens and First Nations people about the Sasquatch. This complete, original copy of the magazine is in vg+ condition with a bit of shelf wear on the back cover near the fold & a bit of the same on a couple of other spots.
