London: Geoffrey Bles, 1934. First Edition. Hardcover. Collectible Very Good / Good. Item #SANSHEL001
1st printing. Yellow cloth with red titles. 228pp. Illus. Index. Endpaper maps, "Index-Map of LOCH NESS showing the various sightings described in Chapter One." This copy with unusual non-authorian presentation on ffep: "This is 'keeper' book! / Toronto / 17/6/'37 / Dear Frank --- / This not a new / book, but the only copy I / can find in Toronto, so I / send it to you presto, hoping / you are as much interested / in the reality of 'Nessy' as I / have been for 6 years. / Best to all / Tobey." Under that presentation at the bottom is a nice color pencil drawing of Nessie with a tiny ship in the distance. The ship says "LOOK!" and Nessie has ? ? above her head. On the front paste down on a blank space on the map is the ink ownership stamp of George W. Earley, avid collector of cryptozoology and author of an anthology of science fiction, "Encounters With Aliens." A near vg copy (small nick/bump bottom edge) but we note a triangle shadow at the spine bottom where a corresponding 1" x 1 1/2" chip is on the dj backstrip. Aside from that chip, the dj has a couple of small chips and a long tear on the back panel, but with no loss of paper. It was taped by a former owner. Very, very scarce and especially so in a nearly complete (but torn) dj.
