Not a book. ONE 11" x 13" plate with ONE original facing sheet of description from the rare 1899 edition of the artist's Pen Sketches, published in Great Falls by the W. T. Ridgley Company. Your bookseller acquired a nearly disbound copy of the above title with several plates removed. The remaining four plates are in near fine condition, with just a bit of shadowing at the edges. Each print is accompanied by a slightly narrower, adjacent untrimmed sheet from the volume with elegant text centered in the middle that describes the print. The prints are on stiff "card" stock & are of a quality that is virtually unsurpassed in art books ever since. This represents an opportunity for the buyer to own an early Russell, albeit without an original signature, close to the source & contemporary in time to the maturing artist. Each of the following plates will be accompanied with the sheet of text described above that belongs with it.
